OH NO! CAVITIES! (LEVEL 2)

OH NO! CAVITIES!

This play is based on Little Red Riding Hood characters and it deals with Healthy Habits. It is a LEVEL 2 play, directed to kids from 9 to 11 years old

SYNOPSIS
Little Red and Wolf are two acclaimed theatre actors that have a great success. They act with their partners Granny, Woodcutter and Mother in different theatres from all around the world with its famous play “Little Red Riding Hood”
As usual, the director, actors and actresses were meeting at the theatre to rehearse the play. Wolf was late and, the moment he appeared, everybody could see that he was not looking so good. He said that he was not feeling fine, but they decided to start working. During the rehearsal, Wolf wasn't acting suitably and he complained several times about pain. The moment they got to “Granny´s house scene” and Little Red said the famous line “What a big mouth you've got, Granny!”, Wolf opened the mouth and she was able to see the problem. He had lots of cavities in his teeth. The director decided to stop the rehearsal and sent Wolf to the dentist. Little Red went with him, as he was terrified and worried, and needed some support.
After the appointment and having his teeth filled, Wolf received some advice from the dentist and the nurse. Little Red and Wolf went back to the theatre and everybody was able to restart the rehearsal of the play.

CHARACTERS:
Little  Red, Wolf, Granny, Hunter, Mother, Director, Dentist, Nurse

CHARACTER OBJETIVES
·Narrator: He explains the scenes before they start.
·Little Red: She is Wolf's best friend. She is worried and goes with Wolf to the dentist
·Wolf: He loves eating sweets, he is proud of the way he acts and insists on rehearsing despite his pain. He loves his mouth and teeth and wants a remedy for them.
·Woodcutter and Mother: They are Little Red and Wolf's partners, they are worried about Wolf and stopping the play. They are afraid about the possibility of cancelling the play.
·Director: He is perfectionist and he is annoyed about holding the rehearsal so many times. He looks for a solution to the problem.
·Dentist: He is a good professional, he is used to treat patients with similar problems to Wolf's. He calms him down and fills all the cavities. He also shows Wolf how to take care of his teeth.
·Nurse: She helps the dentist. She gives advice to Wolf

CLASS PREPARATION:
Divide the class into two groups. GROUP A can act Scenes 1 to 3 and GROUP B can act in scenes 4 to 6

SCENES:

SCENE 1: At the theatre
The Narrator sets the scene. He presents all the characters and they start appearing on stage. They introduce themselves and greet the public. They are meeting at the theatre as it is time for rehearsing. Wolf is the last one. He is late, and when he appears he doesn't look good. For him, drilling is above any pain, so they decide to start working.

SCENE 2: Rehearsing
The Narrator sets the scene. The Director, his team and the actors and actresses are inside the Theatre.
The practice is not going very well as Wolf complains about pain. It is the Granny's house scene, and Wolf is on Granny's bed. Little Red starts her lines and when Wolf opens his mouth, she discovers the problem. All actors, director and equipment come on stage to see what is going on. After discussing what to do, the director decides to call the dentist.

SCENE 3: Making an appointment.
The Narrator sets the scene. The director goes out the stage. He takes his mobile and calls the Dentist’s Office (Stage can be divided into two parts by using a big cardboard. On one side we can see the Director with his mobile, on the other side  the nurse is answering the phone) Nurse takes note of the appointment.

SCENE 4: Wolf needs a companion.
The Narrator sets the scene. The Director is back on the stage and says Wolf that he has an appointment with the dentist. He starts crying and howling as he is terrified of dentists. The director asks for a volunteer to go with him. Everybody has an excuse and Little Red offers herself.

SCENE 5: At the dentist
The narrator sets the scene. Little Red and Wolf are at the dentist's waiting room. (Stage can be divided with a cardboard into two parts. On one side we can see the surgery, the waiting room is on the other side. To make it more real, at the same time Wolf and Little Red are waiting, the dentist is finishing with the previous  patient.  We listen the typical sounds of a Dentist Office. He goes out of the surgery very happy) The nurse comes and asks Wolf to go inside the surgery. The dentist examines his mouth and fills the cavities. After that, the nurse and dentist ask questions about his hygiene and habits and give some advice to Wolf.

SCENE 6: Back in the theatre 
The narrator sets the scene. Little Red and Wolf are back in the theatre. They explain what happened, and give advice to their partners about taking care of their teeth. They start rehearsing again.
